Picture One (Wiring)
Here's a dangerous situation!. Not only is this ceiling fan wiring not in a junction box; also many wires nuts that were undersized for this application fell off, leaving exposed wiring touching the insulation. We not only informed our client in our report, but we also told the home owner who we felt could be in immediate danger.

Picture Two (Structure)
Here's a construction flaw that will come back to bite this Ohio home owner. Wood shims are a questionable way to support your house. Note the unsecured wood wedges that were installed to shim the shims. Additionally the wood shims were being attacked by termites and were receiving much ground moisture due to no vapor barrier being present. This situation will deteriorate quickly if proper measures are not taken.

Product Three (Roof)
This Ripley home owner had a plan with this roof. The plan was to nail as many layers of shingles (the 7th is pictured) and not have to worry about ever putting another layer on again. Unfortunately, when we later inspected the attic, we found several roof rafters split from the excessive weight of the shingles. Although, our client could see the deteriorated roof from the ground, she was unaware of the problems that lie beneath.

Picture Four (Asbestos)
There are 3 problems in this picture from this home. The first is the knob and tube electrical wiring. The second is the knob and tube wire sheathing is frayed. The third problem is the knob and tube electrical wiring is frayed under asbestos insulation. We recommended further evaluation on this since most of the attic wiring was buried underneath asbestos.
